Since 1976, Interval House has provided emergency shelter for women and children fleeing abusive relationships. It also offers crisis intervention and preventive services, advocacy for victims, and education about family violence and the community at large. Their services are free and serve all women of Ottawa. Every year, Interval House provides safe shelter to approximately 120 women and 130 children, and counsellors answer more than 4000 crisis calls.
For a number of years, St. Peter's, through the Sicial Ministry and Outreach Committee, has gladly given financial assistance to Interval House. Also, at Christmas, our Mitten Tree provides much-needed winter warmth in the way of mittens, socks, toiletries, etc.
In summary, Interval House provides safe accomodation, quality programs and effective support services that assist women and their children heal, regain their strength, and rebuild their lives.
